well i finally got around to fitting the front and rear 520 sprockets and chain on the GT. In gold no less ;D.. They are much lighter then the OME. (Original Manufactures Equipment.) The original chain weighes more then the 2 sprockes and chain added together. I have not been for a ride on her yet, to wet. will let you know if there is any differance. cheers Nev

Hey Nev, hows it going? well, the old 520 trick, aye, trying to pull a fast one. So, what I've got is a rear Aluminum sprocket 36T weight in @ 268 grams, and the 520 sher bangle 15T front. gearing = plenty of punch up to the ton, but Mac. pass doesn't have too many ton up corners, does it? Stock bevel final drive is 530. just a tad heavier, than 520 I'd say.

dave, surprised you would need a 530 on a bevel,999 only had 525. really liked the look of the gold in the box Nev,but never again !!!. turned out to be an absolute PIA.Even for someone as anal as me !! in keeping it clean and nice and shiny.Constant battle with those side plates in stopping them tarnishing with surface corrosion etc.Fun Fun Fun polishing each side plate in the links....hj

dave, surprised you would need a 530 on a bevel,999 only had 525. Hey HJ, well the 530 wasn't my choice, it was the factory's, years ago, way back in the mid 70s we see the birth of the 900 bevel (actuality 864 cc) this sucker is was @ 5200rpm giving 58 ft/lb or 79Nm of torque with 40mm carbs & contis, and so I'm guessing chain strength & technology wasn't what it is today back then. So the factory went 530 at the time, as yknow the bevel can hold its own when the going gets going. Reducing weight will get it going quicker faster. More diet strategies are being pursued. Ciao Dave.
