I actually like the look of it ...the features and specs of the S model seem good....but at this stage Im not totally convinced of its dirt credentials...I suppose anything with that many ponies and that weight wont be as dirt capable at the KTM 990 but may certainly be a better allrounder that the BMW 1250 GS Adventure option..Regardless at this stage I will most probably wait for the second iteration in 2011.....My current Multi only has 11000 klms on it and why dump all that cash on a crappy trade in?

I think Ducati is going overboard with the multistrada sure it is competing with the BMW but do I need a 150HP touring bike? I will definatly loose my licence, I had enough trouble with my BMW R1100RS (90hp) with luggage and pilling staying around the speed limist. Sure the gadgets a good to have providing that they are relaible. I would lke to see the multistrade replacing ST2 maybe with 1200cc two valve engine as a tourer not as a sport bike.
I suppose it is design for the European or America market definatly not for the Australia market where we are still restricted to 110KPH and copper hidding with speed cameras everywhere.
That is my opinion for what is worth.

Im just upset about the price the word on the streets is 32k + orc for the s $5k less for the stock so that will put it around the $34k mark......Thats a shit load of cash for a tourer.

the inside running I've been given is the bike is will be a serious bit of kit...bristling with technology all sorts of trick innovations.
I made the same comments Urio has raised about the power of the new beast and how usable it would be if the going got dirty..150 GG's at the rear wheel would make for some sphicter tightening riding in the dirt to be sure...however it seems the bike has a trick bit of engine management technogy which allows the rider an option of selecting the type of power and torque combo to suit the conditions. (this also extends to some fancy electronics that adjust suspension as well) I understand there are at least two engine maps that can be controlled from a handle bar switch which allows for a 100 bhp at the lower end for dirt riding and 150 bhp at the top end...sexy stuff...
Ive heard the discussion about the price of the top of the line model but I think we'll have to wait and see...hopefully we'll get some help from the exchange rates before they set final AU pricing...They clearly need to price the bike against the competition as well..A fully kitted GS Adventure is in the realm of 32K plus ORC...and is unlikely to be as light or handle as well as the Duke...The 990 Katoom is more dirt than road and I doesnt have the refinement to make it a serious tourer...
Once again the initial reviews and the local market will have a big impact on the final RRP...if they fly out the door look forward to very little change from 34K
