Can anyone help?? I am somewhat confused .... I took my 2004 620 Monster to Frasers at Fairy Meadow for its 10,000km minor service while a mate took his 2005 620 Monster to Frasers at Concord for the exact same service. When it came to paying the bill my 2004 Monster cost me $1100 but my mates 2005 Monster cost $450 ... what the?!?!?!?!?!?!? How does that work?

$1100 sounds way over the odds but !!... and their is...all depends what was done.... one maybe over serviced and other under done !!.you may have had things done because of age rather than ks,, from memory they charge about $110 an hour.. ask steve Prior, hes the only duc tec there .. and he is very very good. and find out what was done and how many hours.. its your money your entitled to know. $1100 may have been good value for the work done, but that said i have been over charged by the service manager on previous occasion and questioned it,i was credited against my next service.i personally think every service manager they've had, are only interested in harleys, ask them a question about ducs and they have no idea...

I have just had my Gt1000 in for a 24K service at F/M Fraser's and to be quite honest i am so disappointed i WILL NOT be taking it back for any type of work again. Two months ago i asked how much it should cost,I was told around the $800 mark. Then when booking it in I asked the service manager and was told $1100 So i changed the oil, oil filter, front break pads, clutch fluid, front and rear break fluid, check the air filter etc to save a bit of money. Before i toke it in....Well $911 later and getting it home to find that the spark plug lead was left off (rear left hand cylinder) chain lube sprayed ALL OVER THE REAR END etc etc. Nev

A interesting point came up with a 749 owner. He got his bike serviced recently and it cost him $1100 (10k service) The newer bikes are supposed to be as much as 50% less. Quote from Aust NZ Ducati web site: "We are proud to announce that since 2007 all Ducati motorcycles require less frequent service, fewer parts and less labor during each service and, as a result, greatly reduced scheduled maintenance costs – by as much as 50%. Reducing the cost of service when you visit your Ducati dealer for maintenance is one way to measure the new quality of Ducati. It also contributes immensely to making the Ducati ownership experience as satisfying as the Ducati riding experience." :end quote: But it appears that we are charged the same amount no matter what is done or what type of bike you own..is there any others out there that has had their bikes serviced recently, may be I,m wrong but you never know. cheers Nev

See .... I did question why my service cost so much when my mate had his 2005 620 Monster serviced at a massively cheaper rate and the answer I got was 'It is the age of you bike. Ducati charge more for older bikes as they may have fused bolts/nuts and generally leave 6hrs to do a 10k service on a b ike the age of mine. I think that is absolutely rediculous! I am not a bike mechanic and would never ever attempt anything on my bike ... so does anyone know an independant mechanic who will do Ducatis as I am struggling to find someone!!!! I live in the Campbelltown area but will travel!

I have been working on finding a ex ducati mechanic or one that has previous experience and i have been told that there i a bloke at Yallah.. (Just north of Albion Park Rail) And may be a good one on Belambi Ln just north of Corrimal) I'll let you know. I'm sure that there would be a good mechanic closer to Campbeltown. I have found if you just ring around the bike shops most will put you in touch. JUST DONT ASK AT FRASERS P.S my bike is a 2007 model and i was told that it takes 6 hours as well ...so much for for the fused nuts excuse.

See that's crap! I was told if I owned a 2009 model 696 Monster the 10k serivce would have cost me roughly $250 - $300. It's discrimination dammit!! I have found a mechanic in Taren Point (Sutherland) who will gladly do any Duke. I told him what I had done to my bike and he said he would have charged approx $350! How do Frasers justify it?? Let me know about the mechanic at yallah and/or bellambi lane. I am a born n bred Albion Park buy so I know both places well

I rang Frasers Sydney, New Castle and Melbourne for a quote on a 24k service on a 07 GT1000 Syd $850 max all parts included, New Castle $650 including parts but they keep the bike for two days to reduce the cost and Melbourne $800 max all parts included, they all said that if anything does not need replacing the labor would be less and no cost for that part... So the price is usually less than what is quoted...Shit man we are getting robbed. I will talk to Micheal (wollongong store manager) let ya know what he says. Nev

Nev, I am not too sure how to send a PM. I'll play around on here and see if I can work it out. On a happier note I have found a mechanic in Bargo that will service Dukes at a cheaper rate then what I paid at Frasers Fairy Meadow. If anyone wants to know the Bargo Mechanic let me know.

Try Stuart at Motoquip Ulladulla - 02 44540411. I have had all my servicing done there. A DOCNSW member is getting a full service inc. belts on his multi, quoted $400 all up.

OK so I have been very quiet since I left Frasers but here goes, Steve is just about the best Ducati tech this side of the planet, Maybe a couple come close but I always got him to do my Hyper. His knowlege is second to none, and I hope someone has the foresight to poach him away from Frasers soon, he is a wasted talent there. If you do take your bike to Frasers Fairy meadow insist that it is steve that does the work and your $110 / hour is good value,(do not let anyone else touch it) Believe me if old Jo at the end of the road makes a small mistake when servicing your bike it will cost more than you saved to sort it out, you bought the Ferrari of motorcycling now you have to pay for looking after it properly. Frasers are going through a tough time and I hear they could not pay their sales staff comission last month, so times are hard for poor old Mr Fraser, I think the glorified Gin palace in paramatta is milking him dry. You are quite right the main focus at Frasers Fairy Meadow is Harley, I liked everybody there a lot, but they are Harley people and most at Frasers think The Ducati customers are winging latte drinking w+++ers. (THATS A QUOTE NOT SOMETHING I MADE UP.) I have heard that Ducati are going to be importing their own bikes to Australia soon, but that is only a rumour, It can't happen quickly enough in my opinion, Frasers retail 60% of Ducatis in Australia and charge what they like for bikes, parts and service, I don't pay $110 / hour to get my Alfa serviced. As anyone who has spoken to me since I moved on will know, I had real problem,s with the new, so called sales manager at Fairy Meadow. He would rip off his own mother and sell his kids if he had any. He is also very happy to sell bikes he knows are repaired write offs. I have been to Ducati Penrith and to say they are engaged with Ducati and riding (no one at Frasers except Steve and I owned or rode a Ducati) is a under statement. One other thing look at the compliance plates on your bikes, They should be black and silver If they are plain silver and slightly different to the one on your mates bike - don't be supprised if your bike is just a bit older than it appears. This might all sound like sour grapes but I just walked out I wasn't sacked and I didn't have to leave, I just became disillusioned with the whole rip off culture.

I am not here to bad mouth Frasers .... honest! When I bought my 620 Monster I dealt with Mitchell and he was the best. I have ran into him a couple of times outside of frasers and he always remembers me asking how the 620 is going. I am just .... I guess .... disappointed that the reason given to me, for the 10k servce + replacing the engine belts, was becasue my 2004 model bike was considered 'OLD' and 'OLD' bikes 'MAY' have ceased bolts/nuts which can cause the service to take longer to do. When asked if my bike had ceased bolts/nuts I was told it didn't but I still had to pay the bill as if it did. That's where I am confused .... I had great dealings with Mitchell when buying the bike but the service department have left me with a crappy taste in my mouth. I love my Duke and cannot see myself riding any other bike but I know I wont be going back to Frasers @ Fairy Meadow for any servicing. And Deano .... the compliance plates on my bike are black & silver .... it's an 04 model which I bought new off the floor in 05. But I am concerned that Frasers @ Fairy Meadow are getting a rip off culture! Its sad

Hi Deano glade to see your still around. The disappointing fact is that not all frasers shops are equal. Just the service pricing is a small indication of that. They range from $650 to $1100... for a 24,000 klm service. I agree 100% that Steve is one of the best ducati techs around. Not only is he a good tech he is a bloody nice bloke. But this is not about the quality of the service its more about the blatant over charging for a service on a bike that they advertise and sell as 50% less service costs than other Ducati's and yet a major service on any ducati at Fraser's Fairy Meadow will cost you $1100 .. the fact is that Fraser's fairy meadow over charge by over 40% more then other shops owned by the same company. I may have bought the Ferrari of motorcycling and have to pay for looking after it properly. But a 50,000 Klm service on a Ferrari only costs $986 ( I rang up a dealer in Sydney to find out) and it is alot more involved than a 2 valve desmo engine. And yes i did whine but i payed up front and had done 50% of the service myself and still got charged $911 I am more than willingly to pay for top quality service, but no one wonts to be taken as a fool. Just out of interest where do you go for service now? P.S I expressed my concerns to Mitchel about the difference in service charges between the fraser outlets, He at least listened. but I am yet to hear from him at this point in time......... Cheers Nev
