This thread describes the bits and pieces required to enable you to offload the alloy boat anchors on yer bike and swap 'em out with some light weight alloys . * Set of 749/999 wheels (forged or cast - depends on yer budget) * Set of rotors to suit (5 bolt so your old 6 bolt rotors are toast) * Rear 749/999 brake caliper mount * Rear 749/999 2P caliper * Set of front 4P calipers, the old 2P calipers will work with the 15mm offset 999 rotors but they are nutse so take the opportunity to offload them too. You will also need a set of distance spacers/bushes to take up the diffs in the rear axle from Performance products.de (cost a farkin' fortune so be prepared for the shock). In addition to taking up space these also allow for the use of the OEM 25mm axle in the 30mm rear wheel. The front wheel bolts straight up using the OEM spacers and axle - too easy. Weight savings (kgs): Front OEM: 6kg Front 10 spoke Marchesini (cast): 3.5 Diff: -2.5kg Rear OEM: 9kg Rear 10 spoke Marchesini (cast): 4.5 Diff: -4.5kg Total weight loss (unsprung): 7.0Kg Each ounce of reduction of the wheels weight is equivalent to 4 ounces on the sprung part of the bike!! Just for the record this conversion has set me back around 1500 bucks all told - money well spent! Note that you can also fit 5 spokers from dual swingarm monsters and ST models a lot cheaper than this but not nearly 1/2 the challenge , rear is a straight bolt up, for the front swap out the OEM axle for a late model SS and voila you are rolling...
