Sticking to my new years resolution ...
Anyone up for a ride this w/end??
Is the Bathurst show and shine still on? anyone from the club heading up?
Happy for a short ride local ... or a big run if a few are keen.

Having found room at an inn, and convince my work friends that ridding my bike is far more important than saving lives I'm off to Bathurst. ;D
Many thanks to HJ and Dave for the tips ... will be joining Big Al and his merry troupe for the run out there.

Belated Happy New year to one and all.
After a month off on vacation and then straight back to work overseas its already panning out to be a busy year for me and Im sure for everyone else. I hope plod wasnt attracted to any of you during the break?
Im hoping that 2011 will be a year of revitalisation for the club and we can generate a little more interest.
As many of you know I unfortuantely spend a lot of time over seas and hence dont get much opportunity get out on any of my bikes. This is something I intend to change this year to the extent that I can.
Its great to read that some guys have been hooking up for rides but I would like to hear how you think we can generate interest in getting the membership more active. I know even strong clubs like DOCNSW struggle with the same situation even though they are well organised, have an active committee and President, strong membership and long history. By contrast we have good membership numbers, only two people on the commiittee (one active - Scott C and me who is away a lot).
No one likes the sound of a broken record and I hate bleating on about this but if its only Scott and I on the committee then its hard to get traction and generate interest in strictly SCDOC activities. If no one else is interested in taking on committee positions we will have to make do.
Im certainly not interested in winding up the club and frankly we dont have to. For those who are active riders we can leverage off the rides that are organised through the DOCNSW as they have expressed our members are always welcome.
People join clubs for all sorts of reasons some like to ride with like minded people some do it soley because they get an insurance discount by being members of a registered motorcycle club etc...So even in its current form our club serves a purpose for Ducati owners on the South Coast.
I for one remain positive that we will keep going and Im looking forward to hooking up for many more rides myself this year.
So anyone up for a ride next week? ;D

Hey Alex, I couldn't agree more ! Having joined Big Al and the NSW DOC boys for the Show and shine run and the problems a bit of rain can result in regarding ride numbers - yep its difficult to get big groups together. HJ has posted a few NSWDOC runs and having joined in on some of these and spent an evening in Bathurst with Big Al, I can say they are worth the effort (very friendly group that welcomes all) but the starts are perhaps a bit far for the Southern boys - W'gong perhaps OK but its almost an hour from Kirrawee to the start form most of the NSW club runs at Kellyville. As for a ride next week, count me in - would that be Sunday the 20th? at Maccas North W'gong? How about an Ad-hoc comittee meeting? - a ride to Braidwood and catch up with the Southern boys - I hear the back way via nerriga pub is tar now :-)
